Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are energetic, proactive and enjoy when we have engineering and computer application projects that allow them to think creatively and critically while working in groups or independently! Many of our students are eager to come back to school and eventually participate in after-school programs like Robotics club and Technology club that allow them to perform more hands-on activities and even participate in county fairs to show others how they use 21st-century tools to create and inspire their peers. The Title I school is located in a small impoverished urban area and home to many families where language barriers may sometimes impede home-school communication. With a large number of English Language Learners, it's my goal to give students a quality experience in technology and engineering, while being safe, in order to bring the workplace and the classroom together in an effective way. STEM is the new buzz word and students definitely love connecting real-world experiences with their learning. While experiencing learning, all students should feel safe and secure in class!

My Project

The classroom carpet is a common meeting place for students and the teacher. Concepts are introduced and practiced. Stories are heard. Thinking takes place. We can gather around something new and explore it together. It's that one special place where everyone feels welcome and everyone knows that something new and exciting is about to take place!

The carpet is a home inside a classroom, fostering learning, and creativity.

Community is so critical in developing confident, capable learners. By having a classroom carpet, the students will have a chance to get out of their chairs and come together to learn up close and personal!
