Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a third-grade teacher in a special education classroom, I know firsthand how important it is to maintain an organized environment. With two teachers in the room and a classroom full of students with varying needs, having the right organizational tools can make a huge difference in the way we teach and how our students learn. These items aren’t just for keeping the room neat—they help create a space where every student can thrive.

In a special education classroom, our students have diverse learning needs, keeping materials organized is essential for minimizing distractions and allowing students to focus on their tasks.

Labeled bins, storage carts, headphone organizers, and homework slots allow us to keep everything from worksheets to sensory tools in order, making it easy for us to grab what we need and reducing time spent searching for materials. This, in turn, helps maximize our instructional time and ensures our students can quickly access what they need to succeed.

With two teachers in the classroom, organization is even more critical. We have to work efficiently together to meet the needs of each student. Organizational items help us clearly divide tasks and responsibilities. They allow us to create separate areas for small group work or independent learning, ensuring that we can offer personalized attention to each child. A well-organized classroom makes it easier for both of us to collaborate and provide the support our students need, whether it's in a one-on-one setting or in a group.
