Help Mrs. Faust

I am a second grade teacher in the Jefferson Parish School System in Louisiana. I teach wonderful students from needy backgrounds. I feel there is nothing more important as an educator than to make learning fun for my students. When students are happy to come to school each day and are motivated to learn, half your battle is won. As teachers we should make our classrooms exciting and motivational places of learning for our young students. I am asking you to help me to continue this philosophy by purchasing materials such as books, tapes, word and sentence building supplies, educational games, and puzzles to use in centers in my classroom. These materials would be used to update centers that are already available in my class and to add new and exciting learning activities for my students. These centers will provide wonderful opportunities for multisensory learning, such as using stamps and magnetic letters to practice word and sentence building, practicing reading skills while reading along with tape recorded books, and using games to reinforce literacy and math skills. This will also allow the time for me to work with a smaller number of students in reading groups. I hope you are able to help me with this worthwhile addition to my classroom. There is no greater compliment I can receive from parents, than when they tell me their children love to come to school each day. I plan to continue working toward that outcome for all my students.
