My Students
Our school community contains a diverse array of students whose backgrounds and needs are as unique as the families and cultures that proudly support them. We are a school community that is extremely rich in pride, strong in support, and full of a passion to succeed.
As our school community continues to become more diverse, our classroom continues to be a place where a high degree of emphasis is placed on developing the capabilities to support the academic, social-emotional, and familial needs of all students so that engaging, innovative, and relevant learning takes place.
Each year, I am so proud of the maturity that my students develop when it comes to their learning and personal growth as young adults. It is truly a passion of mine to offer the supplies, resources, and technology that will allow my students to gain the knowledge, as well as practice the skills, needed for success in their future college and career journeys.
I remain thankful for the support of citizen donors as well as corporate sponsors/foundations who continue to impact our classroom and transform it in inspiring ways!
My Project
Our geographical area has had to deal with Hurricanes Irma and Maria with Hurricane Maria in 2017 being the most devastating natural disaster to affect Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Our school community has welcomed many students displaced from Hurricane Maria and my desire is to provide the resources and experiences that will help all students, but especially those who have been displaced from Puerto Rico, to be able to learn in an environment that is relaxing and stress-free through the celebration of accomplishments and successes.

A student's life is already full of many stressors that can affect their learning and diminish their ability to concentrate. My aim is to celebrate all of my students which is why I have requested popcorn and candy refills for our "Classroom Celebration Station". With the portioned popcorn packs, I will be able to celebrate with each class period by using our popcorn machine quickly and efficiently without taking up too much class time to prepare popcorn. With the bulk box of candy refills, I will be able to leave some on each student's desk as they are working on a test or essay or, when we are celebrating during specific school events such as Literacy Week, I can offer candy pieces to celebrate participation and school spirit. Hurricane Maria has long dissipated but its emotional toll has not. It is only through the passage of time and successes in school that our students from Puerto Rico will feel stable and safe once again and I hope to help by celebrating events and accomplishments both big and small.
