My Students

The student population I service spans from PreKindegarten-12th grade. These students are a combination of new onset diabetes, asthma, perforated appendicitis and ICU trauma cases. Psychiatrist holding students are seen in my hospital as they await placement. These students require interest building materials to focus. Chronic students with Sickle Cell experience intense pain and often require fun learning activities to get their mind off of their distress. Some of these children attend Title I schools.

The children I teach in the Regional Burn Unit are on heightened contact precautions. It is necessary that these students be taught with materials that can be disinfected. My Oncology students are confined to their hospital rooms. To bring interactive hands-on learning to these children it is a constant challenge.

My Project

The students I service are taught at the hospital bedside. Many require a sterile environment due to their compromised immune systems. I bring new supplies with me to each child's room consisting of; folders, pens, pencils, erasers, highlighters, and stickers. My laptop or Ipad accompany me for interactive lesson components. Lesson-based books, teacher anchor charts, and manipulative math tools for various grades are among the other supplies I would be able to arrange in the portable education cart. This traveling classroom can provide the comfort and familiarity of a typical classroom. Please help me obtain my Magical Traveling School Cart.
