Classroom Carpet

Help me give my students some space when they need to sit on the carpet. We often do circle talks, or turn and tell your neighbor. The rug I have now is very small. This one has room for everyone.

My Project

The classroom rug has been something I have needed for quite a long time. I have often asked for supplies or books for the students. This time, I truly need this carpet. My groups have grown and the rug I have does not have any "spots" or specific areas for kids to sit on. They often sit squished together. We also do a lot of circle talks and turn-and-tell a partner. With the rug I have, it is difficult to spread out and to these speaking activities, which is very important for my English Learners.

This carpet will improve students' ability to move around to have conversations with different partners, to practice working in circles, to be able to have a quiet spot to themselves, if it is needed.

My students are made up of kids who are learning English as a second language. I work with kindergartners through 3rd graders. So the extra space this carpet will provide, also helps with the students as they grow. Older students need more room.
