My Project

I’m reaching out to ask for your support in providing nutritious snacks for our students. Many of our students benefit from having a snack during the school day, as it helps them stay energized, focused, and ready to learn. I am a third grade special education teacher in New Jersey’s second-largest, urban school district. More than half of the students in my school get free or reduced-price lunch. My classroom is "home" to a racially, culturally, and ethnically diverse group of amazing youngsters. I am proud to be their teacher and treat this as a privilege. Unfortunately, some of our students come to school without the basic items they need to feel comfortable and supported throughout the day. To help meet these needs, we are asking for donations of snacks to ensure every child has the focus they need for school.

These donations will help provide students with a sense of security and nourishment, which is crucial for their focus and well-being in the classroom.

By giving them the tools they need to stay healthy and energized, we can support their academic success and make their school experience more positive.

This year, I am determined to set up a "Care & Comfort Closet" for my students. All of these items will be offered to the students on an as-needed basis completely free of charge. I want to create a safe space for my students where they are comfortable enough to utilize this closet to make sure they have what they need to feel great in and out of school! These snacks will be offered during the day to support our students' wellbeing and academic success. Your generous donation will make a big difference in helping them stay engaged and motivated.
