Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

These kids are high energy and ready to learn. Many of them are quick to pick up the new topics and think ahead to the next level. These kids are pushing the boundaries of 6th grade level math and some are presenting topics well above grade level. They need the extra push to keep that enthusiasm and desire to learn. They also come from high-need areas without ready access to technology. Other students are struggling to keep up mathematically and need addition resources to get up to grade level.

My Project

This project consists of a mix of classroom basics. As printer paper is a hard to come by resource, yet is essential to provide graphic organizers for the students, it is a desperately needed item. My students are constantly in need of a pencil and hopefully the mechanical pencils will not only give them ownership of the pencil, but will reduce the time lost to walking around the room to sharpen a pencil. As flu season comes around, tissues go fast. These will be a hot commodity int he upcoming months. Finally, I was never supplied scissors for the school year, making hands-on projects more difficult to be creative with.
