Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4th graders are creative, enthusiastic learners, and they love to think outside of the box! Instead of wrapping up our geography unit with a test, for example, we created 3D maps of our beloved state, painted, labeled, and added unique and personal touches that illustrated all we'd learned about maps, land forms, and Texas regions. We concluded our poetry unit by hosting a "poetry cafe," complete with "coffee" (hot cocoa) and rich literature read out loud by our student writers.

My Project

I'm requesting classroom basics that will help my class ease back into face-to-face instruction. Lined chart paper, markers, and pens will be used for classroom instruction, such as modeling writing strategies.

Since we're returning to school (after 6 weeks of virtual instruction), right on the cusp of cold and flu season, I am requesting antibacterial cleaner, disinfecting wipes, tissues, paper towels, and hand soap.

It is always a challenge to stay healthy during this time of year, and with Houston still battling high rates of COVID-19, our teachers and students need resources to stay safe.
