Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The Coronavirus pandemic has truly affected my classroom because it has disrupted the whole teaching and learning environment. Most of my students live in a low-income/high-poverty school district with close to 100% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch and about 20% are living in one of the four shelters around our school. Since they experience difficulties relating to their home situations, financial instability, poor parental involvement, and lack of motivation, this new approach to learning adds to their misfortunes.

Many of my students either don't have printers at home, don't have the needed resources to complete hands-on assignments, or have parents who are financially unable to assist their child with the required items needed for class.

This transfers negatively to their learning. Hence, the reason why I am trying to make their learning circumstance manageable for them. For the most part, I have been using various online resources, paper, printing materials, markers, etc. Despite their circumstances, I want to continue to make this an enjoyable learning experience for everyone.

My Project

We are almost ready to head back to school and I have a lot of fun, engaging activities planned for my students. They will be sketching, writing, drawing and solving problems as they complete activities.

When my students return to school this school year I want them to have the materials for activities.

The Post-its, markers, pencils, composition notebooks and other classroom basics will be available to ALL my students. They can use these materials to complete projects, class assignments, and group activities.

I am excited to get them started with all the fun activities using these basic supplies.
