Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I know many teachers say this but my second grade bilingual students are the sweetest children. They are learning how to acclimate to a school setting and many are learning how to acclimate to a new country. Being in a bilingual setting allows them to use their native language and be comfortable with their cultural practices while learning English and being in a welcoming school environment.

My students are all English Language Learners in a Title I school.

Even though my students are faced with many challenges, their willingness to grow and learn amazes me each and every day. They are ready to show resilience, strength and kindness even at the young age of 7-8 years old.

My Project

These classroom supplies will make such a difference in my class room because often times students start the school year with little to no school supplies. Chart paper, writing folders and post-it notes help children work in group and express their ideas with others. It allows students to be help accountable for their ideas and work.

Students should not have to worry about whether or not they have pencils, crayons, markers or the glue they need to be successful in school.

Students should be able to come into class, enjoy the environment they're in and just learn. School is about learning but also about being comfortable and happy with your surroundings. Walking into a classroom ready with all the supplies they need can help students feel at ease when they come into school.
