Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in the Bronx in a General Education Classroom. My students are full of enthusiasm and eager to learn. 90% of my students come from a low-income household and receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite so many hardships and the lack of supplies, students are always trying their best.

My Project

An organized and clean classroom is key to a great learning environment. Clorox wipes and Lysol will keep our classroom COVID and germ free and hand sanitizer will keep our students hands clean. Bounty so students can dry their hands after washing them. Face masks or prevent our students from getting COVID. The seat sacks will allow students to keep their personal materials behind their seats without coming into contact with other students. The pencil cases will allow students to keep their writing utensils within their seat sacks for whenever they need it (even if they need to take them home). Continuing to learn at home is also key for a successful school year. Within these materials, they are able to take books and school supplies home to help them successfully complete homework and practice their reading skills. Flexible seating allows students to better concentrate in their work and maintain focus. Fidget toys serve to productively distract and occupy a child's attention. In addition to boosting focus and productivity, by giving the child's mind a bit of a fun mental break, it actually makes it easier to pay attention afterward.
