My Students

The students in my multi-level middle school classroom are part of a public Montessori school, in Utah, that teaches students at their ability levels and plains of growth. They enjoy reading various stories and texts, are eager to learn and explore information. The students eagerly look forward to new concepts and work hard to achieve their goals.

The students are all at different ability levels, with some students struggling to read, with disorders such as dyslexia or a learning disability and desiring more access to high-quality literature.

My Project

Due to COVID-19, students lost access to literature; these books will continue their experience reading and analyzing classical literature for their grade. The texts are to be part of our literature study program and will provide students with high-quality literature for study. They are excited to learn from and read classical literature and would greatly enjoy The Secret Garden, Tuck Everlasting, and The Giver. All of these books have been chosen with the students' interests and abilities in mind.

The students will use the classical texts as novel studies, analyzing character development, plot formation, and resolution to conflicts.

They enjoy pulling apart text to see how all of the pieces fit together and anticipate what might happen next in the novels. My students have already shown great interest and analysis of a novel of a similar structure and have requested more like it.
