My Students

My students are bright, ambitious, and curious youngsters with a huge appetite for learning! This school year will be a bit more challenging for them due to a drastic change- increased class size! Their enthusiasm for learning could be curbed if certain management tools are not in place for them.

I am fortunate to teach in an incredible school filled with marvelous, creative, and intelligent people.

Our students are hardworking and eager to learn. Our staff is equally hardworking and eager to facilitate learning. As a school, we emphasize the importance of being safe, being respectful, being responsible, and being prepared. We strive daily to lead by example so that our students will follow. However, my school is very small so we are all devastated by these unfortunate budget cuts from the city, which has forced us to increase class size at every grade-level. We are determined to make sure our students excel despite the disadvantage that the city has placed us in.

My Project

I've taught second grade for over a decade and in my experience there are certain things besides a hardworking teacher that kids at this age need to be successful in school. They need to feel safe, supported, and respected. If you fund the materials requested, you will be helping 31 second graders succeed in the classroom. You will be providing them an opportunity to learn very important self-management skills. We need student passes to help foster independence and responsibility. The students will use them whenever they leave the room and I will be able to monitor their whereabouts for their safety. The students will be able to use the large classroom timer to help them stay focused during independent tasks. You will be helping me let them know that their privacy is important when they are provided with a privacy board to complete quiet work. You will also be helping me show them that they are all unique and special when I use the magnetic display clips to hang their work.

Your donations will truly have a positive impact on my students' lives.

You will be helping them overcome the difficulties that result from overcrowding. Every kid wants to see their work displayed somewhere in the classroom. It means they matter and that someone cares about their work besides them. With your support every child in my class can come to school with a smile on their face and leave with a smile because they know that they are all special.
