The students in my school are a beautifully diverse group of children who love to read and write. Each day, I am more and more impressed with their ability to connect with the world through books and other media.
These children crave learning experiences that allow them to better understand the world around them.
They are always in search of challenges that reflect who they are and who others are, as well as materials that will support a literacy rich environment.
My Project
My students were lucky enough to meet Jason Reynold during a virtual author visit last month. They were blown away by him! He operates for all kids and truly works to inspire children to be seen and heard and love themselves!
The new release of Stuntboy, In the Meantime would be an amazing addition to our class library and allow all students to read Jason's new book!
The pages are filled with beautiful and engaging art, a plot line like they have never seen before and, no doubt, a story that will become a favorite for all of us. The story features a main character who lives in an apartment building full of intriguing characters and a boy who is truly a superhero! This books will also extend my vision of curating a class library that serves as windows and mirrors and allows all children to see themselves and/or others in their texts while reading from diverse authors.
