My Students

My students currently attend a PreK-8th Grade Title I school. More than 40% of the students in the school are English Language Learners, meaning English is their second language. Many of my students lack life experiences and rarely travel outside of our neighborhood.

When people say that the United States is a melting pot, I believe that my current school is a perfect example of this.

Many of our students come from different countries, and their families are trying to create better lives for them.

Additionally, some of our students are classified both as language learners and students with disabilities; therefore, we have a wide range of learners in our school that can benefit from these funds.

I'd love to be able to bring new experiences and resources to these deserving, amazing kids!

My Project

We would love to be able to supply these 2 classes with the materials to safely, and humanely hatch some eggs. Whether it be quail, chicken, or duck eggs we would love to bring a little more nature to our classes.

Our students are growing up in the 'concrete jungle' and a lot of times don't get to see the way things unfold in nature.

They hear about the life cycle of these animals, but they rarely get to experience it like other children who live in more rural areas.

Bringing these supplies into our classroom would allow for us to show our students the way eggs develop, grow, and eventually hatch to be baby chicks. We would love the opportunity to bring a little more of farm life to our city students!

These will also be a fantastic way for our ESL and Student's with Disabilities population to access the curriculum. It provides us with hands on ways to show the students the skills and information we want to teach them without relying on just books and technology.
