My Project

My students enjoy a marvelous educational experience in my classroom. It does not come easy for them and it certainly takes effort on my part. It is worthwhile as I watch my students develop and grow. My students are in a special needs school in District 75.

My students are challenged by numerous sensory issues and physiological impediments.

Such struggles can be alleviated by the use of sensory objects, chewy objects, and fidget objects. They enjoy visual interactive items that stimulate their interest such as the motion penguin slide and the calming fidget tubes. Most of my students are non-verbal and are learning to communicate in a variety of ways. The children benefit from augmentative alternative communication (AAC) devices. It is quite challenging to keep up with the need for batteries for the devices. Getting rechargeable batteries for the AAC devices will be an invaluable addition to their communication needs.

At the start of the coming school year, we would like to continue with STEM learning by utilizing advanced electronics. The higher-level students in the classroom will be able to engage in exciting circuit activities as they create electronic projects by snapping the parts together.
