Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The J. A. at my school is made up of students with special needs, gifted students and English language learners.

My Junior Academy is full of vibrant, excited learners ready for a new challenge each and every day!

My building is a PreK-Eighth grade school, and in every grade and we develop a strong classroom community to support one another.

My students all come from lower income families that struggle each day to make ends meet. Many of these children face poverty and violence on a daily basis that is well beyond what most of us could imagine. Yet, my students do their best to learn. I try my best to give my students a good education and an introduction to the American way of life, but with limited resources there are many things that others consider basic parts of education that I cannot provide without assistance. My school is very limited in the funds that teachers receive for supplies. Teachers go forward and buy their own supplies to help their students have a successful school year.

My Project

The 21st Century has required a change in curriculum and the education field has got to keep up! These Chromebooks will help my student access necessary features that I use in Google Classroom and various other online applications and websites. I have crafted my social studies classroom around project based learning and we use the internet for research, learning tools and many other resources we can only access with technology.

In my classroom, technology helps my lower level learners have research read to them and allows my non-native English speakers access to translating sites and features.

My school has historically had Chromebooks but we have had a serious drop in operational computers, and our district budget has been limited. Having access to computers at all times will help all of my students access my 21st Century lessons and activities.
