My Students

I am a teacher teaching in Brooklyn, NY. My school provides rigorous academics and social/emotional training to students by trained professionals such as licensed and certified teachers, OT, PT, Speech in a safe learning environment. Our school serves students in grades 6-8. We are working every day to close the achievement gap between our students' abilities and their peers, despite the socio-economic gap between the groups. Sometimes the task of closing the achievement gap seems almost impossible to complete and can be daunting. One of our primary tasks is to determine how close the achievement gap is when students do not have the necessary materials to meet or succeed academically and emotionally. We do our best to support our students learning by providing them with appropriate reading and writing materials that would help them acquire much-needed skills and the ability to excel academically. Our goal is to improve the lives of our students in every way.

My Project

Your donation of Chromebooks will help students learn. My students need to learn from computers, but because of socio-economic reasons, students cannot access computers the way other students can. Your donation of Chromebooks will provide my students access to the same quality education and access to technology. Based on my learning and teaching experiences, computers can function as electronic workbooks, supplying teaching and instruction at a pace individualized for each student in any and every location in the world. On a more sophisticated level, computers can simulate real-world learning experiences for my students. Computers can also be a productivity tool, empowering my students to gather and learn from information more efficiently, synchronously, and asynchronously. My students must have ready access to computers in the classroom that require more computers and more complex technical support, and increased familiarity with the computer and software. Unfortunately, that is not the case in my classroom. My classroom has no classroom computer to help facilitate their learning. Due to this lack of technology in my classroom, my students are at a disadvantage to other students. They must have ready access to computers in the classrooms, requiring more complex technical support and increased familiarity with the computer and software. Students need the Chromebooks to help them as I work to integrate technology into the curriculum in educationally significant ways to facilitate my students' learning and prepare to compete in a new, technological world. By donating Chromebooks to my students, you are helping to take them far beyond our classroom walls as we study, read, and write about different countries, communities, and cultures. You will be transforming students' classroom environment. Thanks for your kindness!
