My Students

Steve Jobs once said, "What a computer is to me is the most remarkable tool that we have ever come up with. It's the equivalent of a bicycle for our minds." I agree. I would LOVE to set up a Chromebook station in my classroom to allow the students to use on-line learning throughout the day.

The students at my school are hardworking students who try their best.

90% of our students receive free/reduced lunch and our school had over 1400 students and 5 classes at each grade level. I think being able to use technology well it is an extremely valuable skill and one that I hope to teach all of my students. I teach 8th grade math and my students are ready and eager to learn. Most of them love technology but some of them do not have the means to have computers at home and there are not enough opportunities to use computers in the classroom right now. I would love for my 8th grade students to be able to experience the joy of using the Chromebooks and the Internet to support their learning. don't

My Project

Although I have two computers in my classroom, students are always waiting to use them to access important information on-line. I plan on using the Chromebooks for various educational websites including math games and programs that they might not be able to access at home. Many students do not realize that they are leaning and practicing math when they are playing math games and answering questions on-line. I would use the Chromebook station in my classroom to allow my students to work in groups and to work independently and practice skills that they might be lacking. Many math sites can be custom built to the students level so that the learning meets the students where they are at. There is also the ability to challenge students and let them be creative with a Chromebook station in the classroom.

Having a Chromebook station in my classroom will let the students get more opportunities to use technology and start to feel more comfortable using it to help them in the classroom.
