My Students

I teach several classes of children with learning and behavior difficulties. Most do not have computers at home and are highly motivated to use them to learn and research at school. Half are English language learners and most have at least one parent at home who does not speak English. They live in a high poverty, high-crime area.

My students have many interests they enjoy researching online.

One loves puppets, especially marionettes. Another one loves wrestling. Most love sports and cars. Harnessing these interests and abilities to develop their skills is my goal. I want them to be enthusiastic about many things they will learn.

My Project

My students have been ushered into the modern age of technology. Our school has added many online programs to enhance their learning. However, my old Chromebooks do not support some of the platforms.

My students with disabilities will use these new Chromebooks to get differentiated, leveled instruction to enhance their reading skills.

They also will use the speech to text feature to assist in spelling, writing, and research to develop better writing skills. Most importantly, for them, they will get to use these computers to learn about the things that interest and motivate them.

It is important for me to have working technology in my resource room so that when students come for their intervention class, they can get right to work without having to switch computers because some do no support the program they need to use. Please help by funding these new computers for my class today!
