My Students

I teach at a lower income school in the largest city in a rural state. My school has some poverty but not enough to qualify for extra funds that could pay for updating outdated technology.

Many of my students face significant challenges at home, and access to technology is a low priority for their parents.

Unfortunately, my classroom has far few computers than are necessary to serve the population.

My students are at a disadvantage because of the lack of computers in our classroom. Their learning environment can be enriched greatly by enhancing our classroom technology.

My Project

My students need computers for math practice, required reading programs, writing, and taking assessments. All of the students do not get an opportunity to get on these vital programs daily. These programs make the difference between success or failure and between getting ahead or falling behind.

The majority of the computers in my classroom are large, unwieldy models from the 1990s.

My class has a small set of Chromebooks that work much better than the 1990s desktops that we inherited from the high school. The desktops are slow, glitchy and undependable. My students need and deserve current technology to maximize their change at success.
