My Students

Not all schools have equal access to technology. In my classroom, it is common to see 3-4 excited students sharing a desktop computer to work on a Google Doc, blog, or slides, while others wait their turn. With Chromebooks, I wish to give students equal and fair access to learning with tech tools.

My third grade students are passionate about learning and excited to apply technology knowledge, not only for leisure but also a variety of applications to enrich their learning at school.

Given the right tools and a safe environment, students are engaged and self-motivated to learn. Our school works very hard to promote innovation and critical thinking skills in every classroom. However, since we are not a Title I school, our resources are limited. Technology is not evenly distributed throughout grade levels. Most of the tech tools in the classroom are old and are not up-to-date. S ome classrooms have one desktop, while most do not. We have about 10 iPads to share amongst 700 students, K-6. Because of this, it is a struggle to provide students equal access to technology. In addition, some students have computers at home, while most students do not have anything. Our teachers solely rely on grants and donors to help us obtain the tech tools we need to support educational technology

My Project

Students are much more engaged when they are doing work that is fun and innovated! My class will be using the Chromebooks daily. The Chromebooks will provide improved chances of equal opportunity for students to complete their work online or create projects using multimedia. Additionally, Chromebooks will also make groups smaller which will allow more students a chance to try and learn using efficient working technology. Furthermore, students will be using Google Apps for Education to write stories through a variety of educational resources, create presentations using Google slides, Google drawing, Google spreadsheets type documents through Docs to name a few. Also, students will conduct research and post work online for feedback and comments from other students, schools, and teachers. Overall, students will learn to collaborate not only with fellow classmates but also communicate their work to larger audience of any age.

By introducing the many unlimited possibilities of Google Classroom, students will learn how to be self-directed, become problem-solvers, responsible, and will be made accountable for their own learning as students and as future citizens of our society.

If all my students receive opportunities with using Chromebooks, they will be able to learn and better apply 21st-century skills, which will prepare and set them for the future.
