My Students

My 4/5 class is a self-contained classroom, with students of all kinds of disabilities. They are learners who love to learn when they are participating in real-world experiences that help to satisfy their natural curiosity. Despite their learning disabilities, all of my wonderful students come to school every day eager to learn. I would love to provide them with the ability to connect more with technology. Our Title I school believes that our population of students learn in diverse ways. Some students make the science connection by reading books, while others love to get up and do something. When paired with content learned in the classroom, the collection of real data, experienced first-hand, is what will satisfy the thirst of all learners.

Chromebooks offer excellent assistive technology that helps students with special needs access and curriculum and information.

Many of my students do not have access to technology at home. They need extra materials to introduce new concepts. This will help to explain and reinforce the more difficult concepts in an easier way.

My Project

There are many levels of learning in our classroom that require not just textbooks, but also digital learning. The Chromebook will allow for a different structure of learning in my classroom. The students in my 4/5 classroom will be given the opportunity to practice their math fact fluency to assist in learning multiplication and division using various websites that allow students to learn the facts at their own pace. The students will use the Chromebooks with a partner to view math-related videos, practice their facts, and work on word problems to prepare them for the state math test.

Differentiation in our classroom is the key to learning.

During the math block, the students will use the two Chromebooks with the program Zearn. Zearn is a program that allows the students to work at their own The Chromebooks will ensure that all of my students' Individual Education Program goals are met by allowing them to access their online learning supports on a daily basis. Some of the skills they will work on with the Chromebooks are math fluency, comprehension, and understanding math concepts for the 21st-century learner.
