My Students

My math students have educational gaps in their math knowledge. I am looking for innovative, creative and technologically orientated ways to have students fill those gaps. There are great math programs online that can fill in these gaps. The downside of these is they require technology that cost money.

My students come from a variety of economic backgrounds and all have individual needs in their learning.

Our school uses the school-wide enrichment model to build a strong education foundation with individualized learning opportunities and I am in full support of it!

My Project

My students need 3 Chromebooks in the classroom to allow them to fill in the gaps of their mathematical knowledge. In math class, I do my best to provide an environment where students can thrive. That is difficult when students are frustrated because they missed that day where negative integers was covered or the day where you simplify compound fractions. Any day missed in math has the potential to hold a student back in their ability to understand and grow in their knowledge and cause frustration in their new learning.

We all know missed days happen so there needs to be a way to help those students learn that material.

Teachers generally block out a few minutes to go over the lesson (that took 30 - 45 minutes for the class) and that isn't always enough. We now live in a time where several online programs do present concepts very well for students to get the practice they missed. But the best way to get them that practice is to have the needed technology in the classroom.
