Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are striving to be independent learners. Most of the students in my classroom are English Language Learners and need more opportunities to hear the English language to become proficient.

Our school is in a low income, high poverty area and many of the students I teach are English language learners.

My students are five and six years old full of life and an amazing command of technology. A typical day in our classroom consists of short bursts of whole group instruction followed by independent work at centers while I teach small groups.

My Project

We have been attempting to use Kindle Fires to use online learning platforms but it can be difficult to navigate websites on the small screen and not all websites work on this platform. We have 6 classroom Kindles, so even if the Kindles worked for every activity, not all students can participate.

My students are working hard to become independent learners.

If we had computers in our classroom, my students could be working independently on coding, researching writing topics, and practicing math skills.

Students are excited when given the opportunity to work with technology. They are growing up in a world where they increasingly have to navigate technology to achieve most tasks. Early exposure to computers will increase their chances of having a successful school career!
