Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach twenty-seven enthusiastic students in a Dual Language setting at the middle school level. Most of them (86% of students) which started eight (8) years ago as ENL students, have reached English language proficiency through the use of their home language.

Soon, these students will be the first ones in graduating middle school college and career ready with the ability to speak, write, listen and communicate in two languages.

The students are hard working individuals that love to learn and go above and beyond.

My Project

The Chromebooks will be used to create a digital classroom experience where students will be able to communicate or interact with the teacher during science and mathematics instruction. The students will be able to use Google applications to create presentations as well as to write content research papers about the different scientific topics studied in class.

In addition, students will be able to take online assessments through TenMarks and other similar online curricular resources such at Haiku Learning.

These programs support the teacher with data that would be utilized to drive instruction in the classroom. Other online assessment resources that will be used are Socrative and Kahoot. Both sites are designed to assess students live through the use of an individualized computer device (Chromebooks) while providing them with a meaningful learning experience.
