My Students

In our constantly changing world, we rarely work pen to paper. Help my classroom move further into the 21st century with a 1:1 laptop program.

My students are intellectuals.

They are scholars. They are teenagers who see the world from a unique, incredibly valuable perspective. My students regularly have deep, nuanced, conversations about complex topics. They ask questions, think critically, and look to each other and the world for answers.

My Project

We need more technology in our classroom. As in the world outside of school, they deserve opportunities to be connected to the Internet regularly, compose digitally, and read not only print text, but also video and audio available online. Our class received eleven Chomebooks through our previous project. Students emailed me in the middle of night: "Ms. B, we got the laptops!" We are so grateful for the tech we have received. We can still do better. As in many high poverty districts our class sizes are often over twenty students. The eleven Chromebooks we did receive will be transformative, but my students deserve more. They deserve as much access to technology as students in wealthier districts, and I am determined, with your help, to provide it for them. These additional Chromebooks will move our class even closer to a 1:1 device program. Students will be able to compose critically and digitally for the 21st century.

Chromebooks will allow my students to perform individual research through Google Forms, engage in meaningful lessons through use of Pear Deck and other Google Add-ons, communicate "live" through discussions on Google Docs, easily share and edit work through Google Docs, save all of their items effectively online to create digital portfolios, and move towards a more "green" classroom community.
