Chromebooks for Consistent Classroom Learning

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

At BHS, all high school students are “provided” with a chromebook for use in their classes and at home. This provision only goes so far, though. Some students are unable to pay outstanding fees for damaged or lost technology from previous school years. These students are not eligible to receive their laptops for the current school year. Also, because some students at BHS have tumultuous home lives, they struggle to keep up with their laptops and chargers on a daily basis.

All students deserve access to consistent classroom learning, regardless of financial status.

By supplying a small number of chromebooks in my classroom for student use, students who otherwise would not be able to participate in blended learning activities will not miss out on valuable instruction. Charging stations located centrally in classroom groups will ensure students do not have to move seats and disrupt instruction to charge their laptops during class. Finally, a secure place to store chromebooks in the classroom will ensure that as many students as possible continue to benefit from these materials into the future.

Please consider donating to this project! Consistency in the classroom is EVERYTHING. Technology opens doors for equitable instruction, but only when it’s equally accessible to all students consistently.
