My Students

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand. -Confucius

My students love science!

They love the hands-on experiments, projects, and dissection labs. My favorite part of teaching is seeing their eyes light up when they make a discovery during a lab.

I teach 7th grade Science in a middle school in Missouri. My students are both energetic and inquisitive learners. They enjoy coming to school, researching new science concepts, and conducting hands-on experiments.

My Project

My classroom has some computers, but not enough for everyone. We use our computers every day, for researching, writing, blogging, creating websites and presentations, web quests, and we've even learned a little about coding. Students must share computers, which works in some situations, but does not work very well when researching and writing individual reports or projects. My students are also very interested in learning how to code. We've learned some of the basics of coding, but I would love to start an after school club to teach deeper coding skills and allow my students to begin creating their own coding projects. Right now, the students who were lucky enough to get a computer can work on projects, while the other students wait for a computer to open up. Your donation of two Chromebooks will allow more of my students to work on the computers every day. It would also help me to have enough technology in my classroom to start an after school coding club. Eventually, I would like to have a computer for every student to use. We also use the Chromebooks every day in Science class for researching, creating presentations, and for creating our Science Fair projects. We need a set of speakers for our classroom for watching our school's "Weekly Digest", Brainpop videos and for watching CNN Student News during our Advisory time. The speakers we currently have distort the sound when the volume is turned up.

Students will be able to use our Chromebooks for research projects, web quests, updating their website and classroom blogs, presentations, and for practicing coding.

My students will not be hindered from a lack of technology in our classroom.
