My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds. They have varying strengths and weaknesses in the school curriculum. We have many students on the autism spectrum that are detail oriented, show an aptitude for the arts, and are very enthusiastic about all the arts and everything that it has to offer them.

They have shown their teachers that they learn best when they are engaged and having fun.

Learning about music with a hands-on approach is very important in my attempt to keep them active and engaged.

My Project

My students learn best when they are offered multiple ways to express themselves and how much they comprehend. I have had the most success with my music classes when I utilize music centers.

In centers, students often question and learn concepts they would normally be too shy or intimidated to find out about in a large class.

These chromebooks will be used in the technology center. Here, the students can access the Quaver Music Program where they can find out about such concepts as rhythm, melody, and even about the lives of famous composers. They can even become composers of their own original pieces in the music studio!

Learning in small groups is a very effective approach to teaching and learning. Students often learn best from their peers!
