First grade has changed a lot over the years. The students are expected to achieve more than ever before. How can they do this without being provided the materials to do it?
My students are in a high poverty public school that is over 70% low income.
This is something that already puts them at a disadvantage. They are not able to get extra materials at home to continue learning what has been introduced at school. For this reason, I want to be able to expose them to as many learning opportunities as possible! It is in my classroom where they get to take risks and open their minds to new learning experiences! I need your help to give them all of these experiences!
My Project
My students would greatly benefit from having Chromebooks in the classroom! Right now, we have 3 working computers in our room...old computers that are not always reliable. Each year, I have 20-26 students in my class. We would be able to accomplish so much more in our math, reading, and writing curriculum if the students had access to technology daily. The students would be able to use the Chrombooks for math practice, publishing their writing, and listening to stories or writing their own stories during reading.
Because my students live in a high poverty area, many of them rely on their experiences in the classroom.
With today's growing technological society, I want to provide my students with as many experiences with technology as possible while they are at school!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
