Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At my school, I service students of various socioeconomic backgrounds. It is important as a teacher to make sure that these students are provided with the same learning opportunities as any other group of students across the country. These students are hard-working, creative, young individuals that need passionate teachers to provide them with the knowledge and experiences to grow. We are a Title 1 school, with over 70% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; which is what my school represents.

Previously, we had a 1 to 1 ratio, meaning each student had their own computer to work with. Unfortunately this has been cut back, which results in the students not having the immediate technology in their hands to prepare for the jobs of today, and of the future.

My Project

Teaching students how to properly utilize technology will help set them up for a successful future. Having access to these Chromebooks in the classroom daily will answer the age old question of "when am I ever going to use this?". Students will be able to take the skills they acquire in my math or science classes and apply them in real world scenarios.

Adding the relevancy in their lessons helps the students become engaged and responsible for their education.

Every student learns differently, and technology opens up opportunities that were not previously available to them. Having the Chromebooks in the classroom will assist me as a teacher to gear lessons to each student individually, allowing them to have relevant, meaningful lessons every day.
