My Students

My third graders are incredibly inquisitive and excited about coming to school. We have created a wonderful learning community.

Unfortunately, the majority of my students live in a neighborhood that is dominated by gang activity and racial unrest.

At age 8, many of my students have already been subject to the negative influences of gangs and violence. We are a Title I school with 85% of our students at a low-income level. Unfortunately, their access to technology is limited due to the low socioeconomic level of our community.

These creative kids would love to be able to use technology like Chromebooks to collaborate, create, develop, and much, much more!

Also, these amazing kids come to school every day ready and eager to learn. Having a safe space to keep all of our materials will help students learn how to organize and be responsible for their own learning items.

My Project

I want the best for my amazing third grade students, and I strive to make every one of them college prepared and career ready. In the 21st century workforce, all students will need to be able to effectively work with others, adapt to changing technology, and communicate clearly both orally and digitally.

These Chromebooks will be the perfect tools to help my students prepare for the future.

In small groups, my students will use the Chromebooks to research topics, write reports, and create slide shows on a variety of topics. Together they will synthesize the information, create, and present their projects to the class.

While using the Chromebooks, the students will work collaboratively, be comfortable and become adept at using new technology, and will speak publicly to their peers with confidence while answering questions about their topics.

I am also requesting 12 seat sacks to help store our school supplies! Please help me create an organized environment for my third-grade students to learn. Each pair of students will get to share a super-handy storage sack over the back of one of their chairs to put essential supplies right within reach and keep their desks clutter-free!

Each sturdy nylon sack has two easy-access pockets.

There is a small pocket on top for small supplies like scissors and pencils. Below there is a roomy lower pocket--in this big, reinforced pocket for their journals, workbooks, and work folders. Having their school tools at their fingertips will help with the fluidity of transitions throughout the day.

The storage sacks will provide personal, out-of-the-way storage; so my students can learn in an organized environment. My third graders will love having such convenient and accessible storage for their materials!
