My Students

Creativity, imagination, problem solving, and collaboration are key components to authentic learning in our classroom. I have high expectations for every student. It is my responsibility to provide a variety of learning opportunities to help each child meet or exceed their goals. Our school is a K-2 school with approximately 1,100 children enrolled.

We have a diverse population of ethnic backgrounds, a growing ELL population, a high percentage of students who need accelerated learning opportunities, and students who need reading and math interventions to help them establish a firm foundation for successful learning.

My Project

Since Covid, our students were given Chromebooks to use for the days we have virtual learning. My second graders are required to carry their Chromebooks to school every day to use for in-class activities as well. We need a place to safely store the Chromebooks when students aren't using them in our classroom. The two shelves will teach my students the importance of being responsible by keeping the Chromebooks away from water and snacks. They also need a place to keep them when desks need to be cleared for workspace.

The Fidget Sensory toys will be used for multiple purposes.

These will be available for students if they need to find a time to cool down and refocus. They will also be used as hands-on math manipulatives where students can create arrays and multiplication problems. We begin multiplication in second grade, and they need to establish a foundation to understand how multiplication works. By pressing the bubbles and creating arrays, they can visually see the math problems.
