As an educator, I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to teach in a small, rural, farming community where my students' parents are active and supportive in their child’s education.
My students come to class highly motivated and are always eager to learn.
Our student body, while small, is very diverse and students come from all different types of backgrounds with a majority of our students coming from low-income households. Nonetheless, this has never hindered their enthusiasm for learning and their desire to succeed.
It is my foremost goal as a teacher to ensure that all of my students have the tools necessary to succeed in school.
My Project
I'd love to send each of my students home with their very own art supplies this summer. My 2nd grade students have a passion for arts and crafts. They loved painting and would ask to do it all the time. It was definitely their top free choice or indoor recess activity
I'm hoping my students will limit their screen time this summer and choose to spend the time doing art instead.
Little backpacks with a watercolor paint set, art journal, colored pencils, and a sharpener will allow my little guys and gals to have their very own art supplies. Painting and drawing will help them build confidence, develop fine motor skills and give to a way to express their feelings in a positive way.
