My Students

Flushing is a vibrant community, with a growing population. But many of our students are new to the country and begin their education at a disadvantage. They need all the help they can get, and I'm happy to ask for it on their behalf.

The struggle to learn in a new environment, and with a new language -one that their parents often don't speak- is very challenging.

But our students don't shy away from such challenges, nor does our staff.

We have a supportive administration, knowledgeable teachers, caring parents and eager students. But budgets and incomes being what they are, we sometimes don't have all the supplies or tools needed to make the best impact we can. Please help us make a difference by donating today. Thank you.

My Project

Students need to see books as not only educational, but also fun! This series of books allow students to feel they are in control of the character's fate. They gain a sense of pride when the character succeeds thanks to their choices throughout the book. And if the character should fail, that only serves as motivation to reread the book again, making different, and hopefully wiser, choices.

These books provide a new and unique way to experience reading in a more interactive fashion.

The unit concludes with students writing their own Choose Your Own Adventure books. Often their favorite project for the year!
