Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Kindergarten students do many projects however are unable to save them most of the time. Working in a low socio-economic community, my students are attending school for the first year. They still do not know how to take care of work that they invested so much time in.

Teaching a gifted kindergarten class has its advantages as well as its disadvantages. I encourage my students to think outside the box and this leads to students doing projects to extend this thinking. There have been a couple of times that my students were extremely proud of their work and then throughout the day (especially during dismissal) their Art work rips. They begin to cry and become upset.

Having a laminator in our classroom would allow for my kindergarten students to take care of their work. They will be able to go home and show it to everybody. I realize the excitement in their faces and the time they dedicate to completing assignments. We will be able to laminate not only art work, but writing pieces and many other projects we work on.

You will make it possible for my students to show what they worked hard to write, draw, or make last longer. Many of my students have never been given the opportunity to work on activities and I feel that this would be a way for them as well as their parents to appreciate their work to a greater extent.
