My Students

If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow. John Dewey

My students are ten years old.

They are just starting 5th grade and on the way to entering a new era; Junior High School. They are wonderful people with varied talents and together they work amazingly well to help each other reach goals. Our school is an inner city, low income, title 1 school.

My Project

Time is of the essence in our school day. Having a class laptop to prepare lessons that include visual representations ahead of time will facilitate the learning process and give me the ability to start lessons quickly. Starting lessons on time, has enormous impact on student learning. It eliminates down time, which often leads to undesirable situations. But, more importantly it will give me the ability to get through the lesson and offer more time to students to work on practicing the skill they have learned for the first time in the classroom so that I can eliminate any misconceptions. This is crucial to the students ability to master a concept.

Having this resource will make it possible to enhance each lesson with multiple modalities such as visual and auditory as well as verbal and linguistic.

In that way all students are reached and have the chance to master a topic.
