My Project

Having a crash pad and floor mats in a sensory room for students with autism, provides numerous benefits that support their sensory needs and overall well-being. A crash pad offers a safe, soft space where students can engage in self-regulation activities, such as jumping or crashing, which can help release built-up energy and manage sensory overload. It serves as a calming tool for students who may need to retreat to a quieter, comfortable spot when feeling overwhelmed. Floor mats further enhance safety by creating a cushioned environment.

Before my students can connect to the world around them, they need help with learning how to connect with themselves; this includes their ability to feel their own body.

Together, these elements contribute to a more inclusive and supportive sensory room, promoting emotional regulation, physical comfort, and greater independence in managing sensory experiences.
