Children don't need Gucci or J-Lo bags to craft their learning dreams...just simple craft bags. The tote bags will be used to transport books and completed work back and forth from school in an organized manner. This will ensure that parents will be active participant's in their education. Our children also need other simple crafts to motivate them and expand their minds. I am a pre-k teacher in the Bronx. Our children are from relatively low income families and very often, it is difficult for their parents to purchase educational materials for their children. The young children I teach are very curious and ready to invent. We would love to create new things at center time and be given the chance to explore different types of mediums. Your help in providing these items would ensure that my student's have opportunities to explore and invent things. Children in pre-k love art. I want them to love art and love school. When the children create their own masterpieces, they are proud and this is wonderful for their self-esteem. They can use their imagination to create, develop abstract thought, and practice skills such as fine motor and spacial reasoning. Pre-K children learn through hands-on activities, and art is a big part of our day. Pre-K is a tactile grade and we need these materials at our disposal. If children do not engage in art when they are young, when will they. As people get older they tend to put down crayons, paint and crafts. Children need this chance when they are young. Adults tend to leave art to artistic professionals, we rarely create art. I have so many exciting projects in mind, please consider funding us. We could really use ribbon, yarn, glitter markers, puffy fabric sheets, a quilt kit, and tote bags. The children will love decorating the tote bags and taking books home on a weekly basis. Teaching young children is a passion of mine and I really appreciate you taking the time to read this proposal. Thank You!
