This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you recall when you first learned to write in cursive? It seemed so easy...with practice. Today's focus on academic standards often results in ignoring handwriting skills. Recently, in analyzing state test results, we found that student handwriting may have been the cause for some errors.

My students attend an urban school.

A good number are new English learners. Many have learning differences but are adapting. Lives are quite busy, just surviving. Do you remember when your parent told you to rewrite a page because it was messy? Today's parent may not be able to look over a lesson, let alone offer advice to help improve it.

My Project

I would like to create a learning station that will focus on improving handwriting, It would help reduce anxiety that many children have when told to "use their best handwriting" on a lesson. By offering good writing models and opportunities to practice, I fully believe that handwriting in my class will improve! Thus, class work, homework and even tests SHOULD be easier to read and not result in "chicken" scratches.

By supporting this proposal, you will help build PRIDE within each student!

Ultimately, it will change an attitude from "good enough" to THE BEST! Your generosity would be ever so appreciated by us all!
