Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students will improve their mental health by channeling their problem-solving skills with their peers in the chess club. Our school is lacking enough chess sets for the chess club and it is deterring students from coming. Students use this club as a way to connect with their peers in a fun competitive environment. In a rigorous school setting, it's tough for some students to find a sense of culture and community. This can lead to a decline in mental health when they're solely focused on their studies. Chess club would change all that. Students can come and learn to expand their thinking and build a sense of community at the same time.
