My Project

I observed that many youth discovered a love chess in elementary school but their high school experience fails to offer the opportunity to continue growing with chess. I have established an 90 min class twice a week. However students not in the class have requested the opportunity to play in the library during lunchtime and after school, hence the need for more chess sets.

Chess promotes the following skills:

"(1) abstract reasoning; (2) problem-solving; (3) strategic thinking (4) pattern recognition and (5) creative thinking (6) calm under pressure; (7) patience; (8) Sportsmanship"

Celebrate Black teachers and kids! This project supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of students are Black.
