My Project

My chemistry students are eager, hands-on scientists who love spending time in our laboratory!

I am requesting laboratory and modeling materials they need to bring chemistry alive.

There are a number of essential materials that students need to conduct experiments and to model complex chemical phenomena.

Students will investigate the properties of metals, nonmentals, and metalloids by observing and manipulating iron, magnesium, silicon, and sulfur. They will use spectroscopes to tell apart LED, fluorescent, halogen, and incandescent lightbulbs. Lastly, they will model stellar nucleosynthesis using common household items like macaroni and marshmallows.

Lab experiences in high school science should be the rule, not the exception. If you have ever taken a chemistry course, you may remember one or two influential experiments that you conducted as a student. Help provide my students with many meaningful laboratory experiences!
