Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Chemistry surrounds our daily lives. Students need to realize the importance to understanding the building blocks of everything around us. With hands-on laboratories and experiments students will gain a better understanding of their world.

Most of our students come from low SES homes, but have a positive attitude and a desire to learn.

They attend a charter school in Oklahoma, so that they may have the opportunities that other students do not have in public schools. We are one of the most successful schools in the city, and it is not because we hand pick our students. They work hard to pass their classes, the state and federal tests, and gain an education that will help them as the go off to college and the work-place.

My Project

By having the chemistry kits I will be able to do labs that I would not be able to do as of today. Right now we use digital balances that error every time we use it. This is my first year to teach AP chemistry and I do not have the resources to prepare them for the AP exam at the end of the school-year. Hands-on chemistry is the most fun, and really helps students grasp what chemistry is and the importance of learning it.

If you donate to this project you will make a huge impact in students' lives.

They can be successful in the chemistry career, including AP chemistry. This will help students pass their AP chemistry exam at the end of the school year, and could possibly earn them up to 2 semesters worth of college chemistry credit. These students are our future, and I want educated people representing us in the years to come.
