Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember your science experiments, mixing chemicals to see what would happen. Well, chemistry labs need chemicals and we are lacking some. Please help us.

Our students are part of a small charter high school within the inner city surrounded by pressures of society and economics.

We are faced daily with the following questions, "Why is this important? When are we doing experiments with different chemicals?" Even though our students struggle with some of the science material, they are still willing to learn and practice their acquired investigative skills. Our goal as science teachers is to provide students with a fair, equal classroom so all of them will feel inspired to achieve beyond all expectations.

My Project

Applying the material taught in Chemistry is best when done with a lab. Inquiry labs is one method to reach the largest number of students because it allows the highest-skilled students to deepen their understanding while getting the attention of the disengaged student and potentially developing his or her interest in the sciences. The various chemicals I am requesting will allow me to plan laboratory experiments with real chemicals and not just what HOME DEPOT or Wal-Mart can provide. These materials will allow myself and my fellow science teachers to create a more meaningful classroom experience for our chemistry students.

If we want to be as competitive as other schools within the US and abroad then we need help in providing the basic ingredients needed to experiment.

Increasing the level of inquiry is our goal and to change the minds of our students. The materials you will help provide are for the motivated "A" student and the unmotivated student who needs a spark to convert. Thank you for your consideration.
