My Project

Chemistry can be a very difficult subject to learn. However, when students are able use the content to explore real-world scenarios they are more likely to engage in the learning process. One way to incorporate real-world scenarios in a classroom is through the use of project based learning (PBL).

Project based learning provides students with a reason to learn, which in turn increases their motivation, deepens their learning, and improves content retention.

While PBL activities are exponentially more effective in teaching students chemistry, these types of activities are also very time consuming to create. By funding this project I would be able to purchase PBL materials from Teachers Pay Teachers that have been meticulously crafted by fellow chemistry teachers and tested in classrooms across the country. Each PBL has students investigate a crime or mystery using chemistry concepts.
