Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are in need of more whiteboards (and supplies) to encourage learning in an age where technology is all the rage! But, yet challenging to keep children stimulated in a classroom environment, especially 11-12 year-olds. A thinking classroom fosters profound understanding, enhances critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and promotes autonomy and collaboration. It creates community and culture within the classroom. We are requesting a magnetic dry erase board, jumbo magnetic XY coordinate dry erase grids, dry erase markers, and more.

With added whiteboard space more students will be encouraged to explore mathematical concepts using standing whiteboards and supplies rather than rote memorization.

They will understand the "why" behind solutions and build a solid foundation of knowledge. By engaging in mathematical conversations, justifying their reasoning, and exploring strategies, they gain life skills that are applicable beyond mathematics.

Whiteboards in thinking classrooms empower students to take chances, explore, experiment, and make mistakes without fear of judgment, creating resilience and perseverance. By focusing on the process of thinking and problem-solving, thinking classrooms can create more inclusive environments where all students feel empowered to participate and learn. And, promotes movement! What kid doesn’t like to move?

Mathematical thinking skills are essential for navigating real complexities in the real world, from understanding financial concepts to making informed everyday decisions.
