Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The fifth grade cheerleaders attend practice every Friday before school. Every practice consists of a group stretch, rehearsing cheers, and team building activities.

The fifth grade cheerleaders are student athletes from each fifth grade class.

The cheerleaders all have different learning abilities and many speak more than one language. Despite their differences, every week they work together as a team to spread school spirit.

My Project

If we are lucky enough to receive mats, the cheerleading team can learn stunts they can perform at school wide events. Currently, cheerleading routines are comprised of basic cheers and minimal stunting. The athletes are so proud of their routines, but they are motivated to learn more challenging stunts. If they receive the mats, they can learn to stunt in a safe environment.

These mats will allow students to learn to stunt which will improve their cheerleading routines.

The volunteer coaches would like to improve the cheerleading program and if this project is funded, it will provide the team with many more opportunities.
